GARDNER, KS (KCTV) -

It's not every day one hear of someone turning 102, but that is exactly the birthday a Kansas City man is celebrating this week, and he celebrated it in style.

People might not exactly call it "the flight of a lifetime," but it was certainly a flight vintage plane enthusiast Dick Schauble will remember.

Schauble is not the average 102-year-old, if there is such a thing.  He is a former pilot and member of the local Vintage Aircraft Association.

Fellow members of VAA Chapter 16, located at Gardner Municipal Airport, gathered to give Schauble a special flight.

Schauble is the oldest member of the aircraft association, and Saturday, he was the most appreciative.

Not only was it a special ride, but it was a special plane - one Schauble owned years ago when he taught at an aircraft mechanics school in Kansas City.  Schauble sold the plane to a friend of Pratt's.

When he turned 100, and again, at 102, Pratt had his friend bring the plane to Gardner, and take Schauble up for a ride.

The flight only lasted about 15 minutes, but after 102 years, it was 15 minutes to cherish.

The Vintage Aircraft Association, Chapter 16, has about 40 members. About half of them turned out for Schauble's special flight.
