BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

A couple celebrating their first anniversary may have a new appreciation for Facebook after the social media site helped reunite them with a lost wedding band.

The wedding ring was found at the Birmingham Barons game against the Chattanooga Lookouts on Saturday, May 4. The ring has the date 4-21-41 inscribed as well as the couple's initials inside.

Rob and Dari Roden had pretty much given up on finding Rob's ring but a quick look at Facebook changed everything Monday morning. The Birmingham Barons posted a photo of the ring that has been shared more than 850 times on their Facebook page.

The couple was at the Barons game and noticed about halfway through that Rob's ring was missing. And it isn't just any ring.

"It's my grandfather's ring and he passed away several years ago," Rob said.

Dari was going to buy a replacement for the 72-year-old ring Monday during her lunch break until she checked Facebook and saw Rob's ring.

"It made me feel that there's still people who care in this world," Rob said.

The ring was found by a 5-year-old boy and turned in to lost and found. The Rodens hope to get in touch with him and his family to reward them for their actions.
