CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati Police Capt. David Bailey was promoted to the rank of Lt. Col (Assistant Chief) on Monday.

Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney announced the appointment last week.

Bailey has more than 20 years with the police department. He has held various positions during his tenure. In addition to his operational assignment, Bailey will also be the Department's representative to the Neighborhood Enhancement Program.

Bailey is a graduate of the FBI Academy and holds a degree from Xavier University.

Under reorganization by Dohoney and Police Chief James Craig, the other two assistant chief positions that were vacant due to retirements have been eliminated.

The City Charter allows the City Manager to appoint assistant chiefs. Capt. Paul Humphries was appointed as an assistant chief in January.
