FULTON COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

Mertinya DeLoatch didn't say anything in court Tuesday when she appeared in front of a judge for the first time, but Traci Harden said Monday afternoon, DeLoatch had a lot to say.

"She called me yesterday," said Harden, the troop leader of the Girl Scout troop DeLoatch is accused of ripping off. "I was surprised it was her and she asked me to drop the charges. I told her that is not something I can do at this point."

Harden said DeLoatch's daughters were a part of the troop and she was in charge of collecting money raised by selling cookies.

"I asked her flat out, 'Mertinya what happened to the money?' She said, 'I spent it.' That was it. She didn't say why she spent it or what she spent it on," Harden said.

In court Tuesday, DeLoatch's attorney tried to get her client released without bond. The judge set bond at $6,000. Harden said in light of what happened, the troop will change how money is handled.

"The girls have learned a lot too. They have learned there are good people in the world and bad people in the world and good people make bad decisions," Harden said.

DeLoatch is due back in court on May 21.
