GREENWOOD, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Greenwood County deputies said Northside Middle School student was found hiding 21.5 grams of marijuana in the school's bathroom that she claimed her mother gave her.

Deputies said they were called to the school after the principal was told a 12-year-old student was seen hiding the marijuana in the ceiling of the girl's restroom on Friday.

The girl admitted to authorities she hid the marijuana there and gets is from her mother, whom she does not live with, deputies said.

According to the deputy's incident report, the girl said when she visits her mother, she gives her the drugs, she brings it to school and gives it out. The report also stated the mother grows the marijuana.

Deputies said the girl was charged with simple possession of marijuana by the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Deputies did not identify the girl's mother in the report.
