Check Your Free Credit Report

You have seen some commercials on television promising free credit reports, but most of those services come with fees and pressure to sign up for costly products.

You have a right to see your credit report, FOR FREE, from the three major credit reporting bureaus one time per year. They are Transunion, Equifax and Experian.

Click the logos and you'll be taken to the starting page to look at your reports. You can review any of the three, independently of each other, once per year.

Why is this important? Because not knowing your credit history can cost you a lot of money. It can also give you peace of mind knowing that all of your information is correct. If there are suspicious items listed, it may mean you've been the victim of identity theft, and you'll want to get that corrected immediately!

Your credit history is a report that shows how dependable you are with credit. Good credit means lenders are more willing to lend to you for that motorcycle, house or big TV (and at lower rates!). Likewise, if you have outstanding credit debt you aren't aware of, it can mean higher interest or not getting a loan at all!

Make sure you're keeping a close look at your credit history, or it may cost you!
