Elderly couple critically hurt in Maury Co. wreck

MOUNT PLEASANT, TN (WSMV) -

An elderly couple is in critical condition after a serious crash Wednesday in Maury County.

Howard Batcher, 85, was driving a sport-utility vehicle with his wife Wanda, 72, when the wreck occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Highway 43.

Investigators said Howard Bratcher pulled out of Old Zion Road into the path of a pickup.

The truck slammed into the driver's side of the SUV, sending it off the road.

Bratcher and his wife had to be cut out of the vehicle. Both were airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.

The driver of the pickup wasn't hurt.
