Man indicted for stalking, bringing gun to Flying Pig

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A Hamilton County man is indicted on charges of stalking the Flying Pig Marathon's Executive Director, and then bringing a concealed handgun to the race.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph T. Deters says that David Moore, 49, was indicted on Monday on charges of Carrying Concealed Weapon/Failure to Inform Law Enforcement Officer, Carrying Concealed Weapon, Weapon Under Disability and Menacing by Stalking.

Prosecutors say Moore, a registered marathon participant, called Executive Director Iris Simpson-Bush multiple times during the two-day Flying Pig event.

In the calls, he reportedly complained about his bib number for the marathon, asked Simpson-Bush about her relationship status, made comments about 'fighting terrorism' and even asked to speak on stage at the Flying Pig events.

According to Hamilton County Prosecutor Joseph Deters, on the day of the marathon, Moore showed up at the event stage and was stopped by police. He allegedly made several alarming statements, which led to police asking if he had a gun.

Deters says Moore then opened his coat, revealing a 9MM Bryco Arms gun tucked inside his waist band.

"Thanks to good police work during the marathon events and the safeguards already in place for the marathon, nobody was hurt in this incident. It is always the goal of law enforcement to be proactive and prevent something from happening rather than having to react to a situation," Prosecutor Deters commented.

After the event, he was hospitalized for a mental evaluation.

Officials say Moore and Ms. Simpson-Bush were not acquainted prior to the incident.

If convicted of all charges, he faces the possibility of 6 years in prison.
