FRANKLIN COUNTY, KS (KCTV) -
A cousin of a man in custody in connection with a triple slaying and the disappearance of a toddler maintains his innocence.
Kyle T. Flack, 27, is being held in the Franklin County Jail in connection with the deaths of Andrew Stout, 30, his girlfriend, Kaylie Bailey, 21, and Stout's roommate, Steven Eugene White, 31.
Authorities have said that they believe Bailey's 18-month-old daughter is dead and they are searching for her remains in Lyon and Franklin counties.
Flack has a violent past. As a 19-year-old, he shot a man who had hired him to do work five times. That man later died.
But Flack's cousin said Flack has turned his life around and was moving beyond his past troubles.
"I believe that he is innocent," said Amanda, who asked that her full name not be used. "I mean if they have evidence or he confessed, I want to know."
Amanda said her cousin has always been a kind person. He spent his summers in Franklin County with his grandmother. Friends and neighbors said they are shocked by the allegations.
"He was a changed man, and he was a really good person," Amanda said.
Despite the allegations, Amanda said she and other family members are standing by Flack.
"Kyle, I want you to know that we love you and we are going to stand by your side no matter what!" she proclaimed.
