GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

A motorcyclist has died of injuries suffered in a collision with a pickup truck in Glendale on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The victim, Roger Epperhart, 44 of Glendale, died Sunday morning after suffering serious trauma to the body, said Glendale police Officer Tracey Breeden.

Epperhart was traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck the rear of the pickup in the area of 59th and State avenues, Breeden said.

Epperhart was thrown from his motorcycle. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured.

Breeden said it appears Epperhart was impaired at the time of the accident.

Detectives from the Glendale Police Vehicle Crimes Unit are continuing the investigation.
