BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan daycare has been put out of business by the state - for now.

The Michigan Department of Human Services has suspended the license belonging to Deborah Dixon and Leona Wade.

Investigators said the daycare on Lauria Road in Bay City violated rules regarding suitability and supervision. The probe was initiated after a complaint was filed with the state.

The daycare has been licensed to operate with 12 children in their care since 2004.

As of Monday, the business cannot watch over any children. The state said the business has a right to a hearing.

Michigan law defines a group child care home as "a private home in which more than six but not more than 12 minor children are given care and supervision for periods of less than 24 hours a day, unattended by a parent or legal guardian, except children related to an adult member of the family by blood, marriage or adoption. Group child care home includes a home that gives care to an unrelated minor child for more than four weeks during a calendar year."
