SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Police in Saginaw are investigating a shooting on Saginaw's east side that happened Wednesday around 3 p.m.

Police said officers responded to the area of S. 4th and Tuscola after receiving reports of shots fired. While officers were en route, central dispatch said that a vehicle had just struck a pole at Thompson and S. Park St.

Officers arrived on scene and found that the driver of the vehicle had suffered a gunshot wound while driving in the area of S. 4th and Tuscola. TV5 photographers brought back video from that crash scene, which is viewable above.

The driver of that vehicle hit a utility pole, causing wires to come down over the roadway. That driver was taken to St. Mary's with serious injuries.

Saginaw Police detectives are still interviewing witnesses in the case and their investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-422-JAIL.
