MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

When you have a newborn, getting lots and lots of baby pictures is a must. So one local woman went to a portrait studio to get pictures of her little boy.

But, that studio went out of business. And now, those baby pictures can't be found.

Sarah King loves spending time with her 6-month-old son Colton. She wants to remember this time with lots of pictures. So she went to Sears Portrait Studio in Midland. But the pictures she had taken never came.

That's because the company that Sears used to take portraits, St. Louis-based CPI, went out of business April 4. Now, King can't get her pictures and she wanted TV5 to ask the tough questions.

"It was my first Mother's Day, and I had no photos to share with my mom and grandma and everyone was kind of down about it because his photos did turn out so well" said King.

King has been trying for weeks to get Sears to produce the photos. But she's had no luck, leaving her frustrated.

A Sears company spokesperson told her over the phone that CPI stopped processing photos March 31. Unfortunately for King, she went to get her pictures April 1, or April Fool's Day. And while the folks at Sears feel badly for what happened to customers like King, they say all they can do now is offer them a refund.

"I don't want my money back. I want his 6-month pictures because I'll never be able to get his 6-month pictures taken again" said King.

King said this is one April Fool's joke she can live without. At the end of the day, she doesn't care how it happens, she just wants the pictures she paid for.

Sears is offering refunds to those customers affected.
