CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Emergency crews were called to a reported electrical fire at a downtown office building on Thursday.

It happened in the 300 block of W. 3rd Street around 4 p.m. Officials on scene tell FOX19 the fire is believed to have started in the basement level after a transformer explosion.

The office and several other nearby buildings were evacuated, as a result.

Fire officials say someone was rescued from the elevator after the power was cut.

Two firefighters were taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center to be treated for smoke inhalation. A civilian was treated and transported to the hospital, but that person's condition is not being released.

Black smoke was seen coming out of sewers, including one at 5th Street and Central Avenue. Authorities believe this was caused by the transformer explosion at W. 3rd and Plum.

Fifth Street between Central Ave. and Elm was shut down, as well as 3rd Street near the location of the fire.

A damage estimate is unknown at this time.
