CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Inner City Tennis Project, an organization helping Cincinnati's youth since 1982, is hosting a tournament this weekend at Kenwood Country Club.

The tournament provides competitive play for participants of all skill levels. More importantly, the tournament provides funding and awareness for a program benefiting hundreds of inner-City children.

The organization has been providing tennis lessons to local juniors on a daily basis giving kids free equipment, shoes, clothes and guidance along the way.

The organization has been very successful. Children in the inner-City are seeing that tennis can teach them to be more complete, can give them something positive to do in the summer and lead to a better life.

The success of past campers speaks for the program's success. Sixty-five campers from the Inner City Tennis Project have gone to college with tennis scholarships. Several have become tennis teaching professionals and one has even gone on to work for the United States Tennis Association.
