Lebanon woman recovering from dog attack

A Lebanon woman is recovering from injuries she suffered after being attacked by a neighbor's dog.

Police say Laura Counts was walking her dog Wednesday on Washington Drive when a Great Pyrenees got loose from a child and went for Counts' smaller dog.

When Counts tried to intervene, she was attacked and bitten repeatedly.

"A lot of times we hear, 'Hey, in this case, this dog isn't vicious. It doesn't normally react that way.' But, unfortunately, I think sometimes when other animals get involved, maybe it becomes territorial, and - obviously - we as human beings are going to do everything we can to try to protect our animals," said Lebanon Police Chief Scott Bowen.

The dog's owner, Andy Poston, was cited because the dog hadn't had a rabies vaccination this year.

He surrendered the dog to animal control, where it will be euthanized.
