OLD HICKORY, TN (WSMV) -

A driver survived a violent crash into a guardrail overnight in Old Hickory.

The wreck happened in the 1500 block of Riverside Road around 1 a.m.

Police said the driver lost control and hit the guard rail head-on.

During the crash, the guard rail came crashing through the front windshield of the car.

After the wreck, witnesses said the driver was walking outside the car and did not appear to have serious injuries.

The driver was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

The cause of the wreck is under investigation, but police said it may have been caused by the driver having a seizure.
