Prattville City Council approves draft beer sales

PRATTVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

The battle to bring draft beer to the City of Prattville is almost over. The City Council overwhelmingly voted to approve an ordinance Tuesday night.

A bill authorizing the plan was passed by the Legislature this year and signed into law by the Governor.

"Customers have been asking for it for quite some time, whether they're local customers or people from out of state" said Matthew Burke, a manager at the Jim ‘N Nick's Restaurant in Prattville. "It's good for revenue, it's good for business, it's good for everyone involved."

After waiting for five years, the restaurant won't have to wait much longer to begin pouring the brew. Mayor Bill Gillespie is expected to sign the ordinance into law by the end of the week.
