DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

Authorities are confirming one death as a result of Friday's storms that moved through Alabama. The death happened on the grounds of Farley Nuclear Plant in Dothan.

Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes says the victim was an employee of the plant but was off work at the time of his death.

The victim was volunteering for the Farley family picnic day that was set to take place Saturday.

Sheriff Hughes says heavy winds swept through and a tent struck the man in the head.

WSFA 12 News is awaiting a statement from Southern Company Corp. which operates the plant.
