NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police say a man snuck into a woman's home during the weekend and attacked her with a cord from a hair straightener.

The incident happened in Antioch at a home on Trailwater Drive.

The victim told police she was taking a shower and walked out to see the suspect standing in her bathroom.

Police said the suspect, identified as Jose Bustamante, gained access to the house through an unlocked garage door.

The victim told police she began to lose consciousness while Bustamante choked her with the cord.

Police said Bustamante then followed the victim into the kitchen where he threw a popcorn maker at her.

It appears the suspect and victim knew each other, but their relationship is unknown.

Bustamante has been charged with aggravated assault using a deadly weapon.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
