CHANDLER, AZ (CBS5) -

The Clothes Cabin is a small nonprofit tucked into a strip mall in Chandler. It offers clean, donated clothes to families in need. The organization just held a children's clothing drive in preparation for the upcoming school year. More than 20 bags of children's clothing was donated. However, before it could be brought into the store and sorted, it was all stolen.

"One of our volunteers went out (behind the store) around 1:30 p.m. (Monday) and was picking up some trash out there and saw a white truck with a washer and dryer in it and a big-screen TV," said Executive Director Dara Gibson.

"We went out there about 20 minutes later to start sorting, and it was all gone," she continued, referring to the 20 bags of donated clothing.

Gibson says the organization helps about 1,600 families from across the Valley each and every year. Though The Clothes Cabin has plenty of adult clothing, what is needed most is children's clothing.

"It will be very hard to replace it because we're always looking for clothes for children. They go through them so quickly. They grow so fast, and they need to come in and replenish, and there is not much out there," she explained.

Gibson filed a police report with Chandler police but doesn't expect anything to turn up. She hopes more donations will come in before the upcoming school year at the end of August.

"It puts it back quite a bit because a lot of children are going to be getting ready for school there very quickly, and we're not going to have a lot of clothes for them," she said.
