NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

More than 1,300 Nashville Electric Service customers have had their power restored Tuesday evening in the Belle Meade area.

The outage was centered between Harding Place and Hillsboro Pike.

NES said the outage was reported about 6 p.m., but the cause remains under investigation.

Power outage hits downtown Nashville

Electricity has been restored to the Metro courthouse and several other buildings in downtown Nashville after an outage Tuesday afternoon.

Nashville Electric Service said wires that hook into the transformer at its central station overheated, causing power to go out.

Many traffic signals also lost power, mainly in the northwest portion of downtown near James Robertson Parkway.
