FORT BENNING, GA (WTVM) -

The Fort Benning Commissary will be closed on Mondays between July 8 and Sept. 30 due to budget furloughs under the direction of the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA).

DeCA is following Department of Defense (DoD) procedures initiated by automatic federal government budget reductions. The mandate requires the department to furlough its civil service employees.

Approximately 170 Fort Benning commissary employees personnel are affected by the furloughs.

Commissary customers can learn about changes to their local store's schedule by going to www.commissaries.com, clicking the "Locations" tab, and finding their store under the alphabetical listing.

DeCA operates 247 commissaries with more than 16,000 employees in 13 countries and two U.S. territories.

Furloughs will impact more than 14,000 employees.
