TROY, Ala. – Troy junior outfielder Danny Collins has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-America First Team and the Baseball America All-America Third Team, both organizations announced Wednesday afternoon.

Collins, who will forgo his senior year at Troy after signing a deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates, was named to the Louisville Slugger All-America First Team just before Troy's appearance in the Tallahassee Regional.

The Niceville, Fla., native was a semifinalist for both the Golden Spikes Award and the Dick Howser Trophy. Collins hit .360 with 25 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 68 RBIs, a .631 slugging percentage, .452 on-base percentage and a 1.083 OPS. This is the second award for Collins this season from the NCBWA as the group named him the National Player of the Week following the opening weekend of the season.

He ranks sixth in the country in doubles, eighth in RBIs and 18th in total bases as the final eight teams head to the College World Series. Collins also ranks among the top 100 in the NCAA in batting average, runs, hits, home runs and slugging percentage.

Collins was a 13th round pick of the Pirates in the MLB First Year Player Draft on Saturday. Over his two seasons with the Trojans, Collins accumulated 42 doubles, 23 home runs and 120 RBIs. He was a first team All-Sun Belt selection this season and was named to the Perfect Game 2012 Summer Collegiate All-America Team.

Collins was the lone Sun Belt Conference player on the Baseball America team and one of two on the NCBWA team (Florida Atlantic's Hugh Adams on third team).

Troy has now had 10 players earn All-America honors since joining the Sun Belt Conference in 2006 and 13 players have earned All-America honors during head coach Bobby Pierce's 11-year career.
