Clemson University police have released surveillance video and a photo of a truck wanted in connection with the vandalism of Howard's Rock, the iconic stone involved in the Tigers' pre-game ritual.

According to a release from the athletics department, officials say a piece of the rock was broken off the pedestal sometime before June 2 or June 3.

The video shows a white pickup truck arriving and departing the stadium the night the vandalism occurred.

When the officer responded he observed the plexiglass cover was missing from the rock and a large piece of the rock was missing, according to the incident report.

The cover was found on the ground near the gate, said officers.

Officers said the employees informed the officers they did not touch the cover.

According to officers, the employees advised them that they picked up several pieces of the rock and the lock for the case.

Officers were able to get a partial fingerprint off the pedestal, and the plexiglass case will be turned over to officers to be checked for prints.

"We take vandalism, especially of such an important part of our history, very seriously," said athletics director Dan Radakovich in a statement.

The rock is a well-known piece of Clemson sports history. Players and coaches rub the rock prior to running down the hill at Memorial Stadium before each home game in Clemson.

The stone is named after former coach Frank Howard, who began the tradition of rubbing the rock back in 1966 prior to a game against Virginia.

Clemson Police announced Thursday a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. The Clemson University Athletic Department raised the reward money from private funds.
