MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A dangerous inmate who escaped while on a work detail from the Montgomery County Jail remains on the loose more than a month later.

Randy Washington was ten months into a year-long sentence on a misdemeanor attempting to elude charge from Montgomery County.

Court records show Washington is wanted for attempted murder, reckless endangerment, and criminal mischief third degree out of Bibb County related to a 2010 incident.

Court records also show Washington previously pleaded guilty to attempted murder and robbery first degree in Montgomery County back in 1995. Documents show he was sentenced to 15 years in prison however it is not clear how much time was actually served.

Somehow, Washington was assigned trustee status and was allowed to go out on work details. The Sheriff's Dept. admits the inmate should have never been placed on such a detail.

While working a detail on Day Street Road and Terminal Road on May 9, he walked away from the job site.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force is joining the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office and Central Alabama CrimeStoppers in asking for the public's help to find Washington. Anyone with information can call 215-STOP.
