LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Nevada Congressman Joe Heck has apologized for derogatory tweets made by his son, including some that say President Barack Obama is only good at "spear chucking and rock skipping."

In an article first published Thursday on website Buzzfeed, an account appearing to belong to Heck's son Joey was reported using homophobic and racial terms through a number of tweets.

"If you're a guy and you cross your legs and swing your foot… You're gay," a March 21 tweet from Joey Heck's account said.

The Buzzfeed article describes different instances of Joey Heck's tweets, including using a word for sexual assault in describing Mitt Romney's presidential debate performance over Obama late last year.

In another tweet from 16-year-old Joey Heck's account, the user claims Obama was not the one who gave the ultimate say in killing Osama bin Laden.

"Obama didn't make the call to kill Osama. … That was the intelligence committee #iwouldknow," the tweet said.

As first reported in the article, Rep. Heck, R-NV, expressed his disappointment in his son's language on the social networking site.

"I am extremely disappointed in my son's use of the offensive and inappropriate language on Twitter: that type of language has never been permitted in our home. I apologize to everyone he may have offended. My son also apologizes for his insensitive behavior. My wife and I have addressed this family matter directly with him and he has learned from it," Heck said in a statement Thursday.

"I think Congressman Heck handled it perfect," said Tom Letizia with Levy Ad Group.

Letizia works on campaigns across the country producing political ads, and he said as negative as campaigns can get, it's unlikely these tweets will be brought up during Heck's next congressional bid in 2014.

"If I were representing (the) congressman's opponent, I would not recommend that you use that as an issue, because I think the American public understands that these things do happen," Letizia said.

FOX5 Political Analyst Mitch Fox agrees.

"As nasty as they've been (they) have excluded children of politicians or children of candidates. … You start going after kids and political campaigns, you'll probably evoke more sympathy for the candidate than anything else," Fox said.

Still Fox said it does raise questions about how Joey Heck's opinions were formed.

"There will be a lot of speculation about how he was raised, what did he hear in the home, but it's pure speculation," Fox said.

The article comes a day after Buzzfeed also exposed derogatory language coming from the Twitter account belonging to the son of Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake.
