FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5) -

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is cleaning up some of the state's roads with Operation Roadblock.

Officers took 140 trucks out of service during the three-day campaign on Interstate 40 near Flagstaff that ended June 6.

Many of the trucks failed safety inspections, especially with the brakes, tires, wheels and safe loading.

In addition, 135 of the commercial vehicle drivers were sidelined mostly for being over federal standards for hours of service and false records of duty status.

DPS teamed up with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Arizona Trucking Association in the enforcement detail.
