I-65 NB is open after 18-wheeler crash near Clanton

CLANTON, AL (WSFA) - Authorities say that all lanes of I-65 northbound are open following an overnight crash involving two18-wheelers in Chilton County. Traffic in the area was at a standstill for several hours.

Clanton police responded to the scene of the wreck, which occurred near mile marker 205.

Investigators say one of the commercial vehicles rear-ended the other. Parts of that truck fell into the roadway and, as a result, four passenger cars struck the debris.

The crash caused diesel fuel and oil to spill over a span of about 300 feet and sand trucks were called in to help clean the roadway.

Minor injuries were reported.
