PIKE CO., AL (WSFA) -

A truck driver was killed in an early morning accident on Hwy 130 in the Monticello community in Pike County, about eight miles north of Banks.

According to State Troopers, 51-year-old Ivery Dunford, Jr. was killed when the 2001 Freightliner truck he was driving struck a tree that had fallen in the road. Dunford was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene.  The truck came to a rest after striking Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

A second crash involving a separate commercial vehicle occurred in the same area this morning. That crash had no injuries.  No other information is available regarding that crash.
