LUVERNE, AL (WSFA) -

A Luverne man is recovering at the Troy Regional Medical center and awaiting judgement on some heavy traffic fines after he led authorities on a 20 mile long high speed chase.

Authorities say an Alabama State Trooper attempted to stop a sport bike on US 29 in Luverne around 5:45 p.m. Thursday after observing the motorcycle speeding.

The rider led authorities on a chase for approximately 20 miles on US 29 until the rear tire of the motorcycle blew out as a result of the chase.

The rider, identified as Ryan Brown, 24 of Luverne, was taken and admitted to Troy Regional Medical Center for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries sustained in the accident.

Brown will be charged with attempting to elude and reckless endangerment. He was clocked going 142 mph in a 55 mph zone. Brown was also issued traffic citations for speeding, improper passing, no insurance and no tag.
