PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police with the help of the U.S. Marshall's service have arrested a Phoenix gang member suspected of attempted murder in 2009.

Phoenix Police Department spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said Cameron Leezell Taylor, 26, was listed on the U.S. Marshall's top 15 most wanted, featured on America's Most Wanted and sought by Phoenix Police Department homicide detectives for a 2009 homicide. Taylor was also featured on CBS 5 News' Manhunt Monday several times.

Taylor, a documented gang member, was arrested Thursday on four counts of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault, endangerment and assisting a criminal street gang in connection with a drive-by shooting that killed an innocent bystander.

A U.S. Marshall learned Taylor had been living with several family members who were "aggressively hiding him."

Detectives learned on Thursday, through an unidentified source, that Taylor had moved into his uncle's apartment at 6230 S. Seventh Ave.

Taylor was found after a search warrant was executed at the apartment.

Taylor and two other gang members are suspected of driving through a south Phoenix neighborhood on March 23, 2009 looking to shoot rival gang members when a car driven by Gilbert Leon got between the rival gang members, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Taylor and his fellow gang members opened fire at their rivals' car, striking it several times and hitting one of the passengers in the back of the head.

Leon, who marshals said was returning home after spending time with his parents and a nephew, was hit by a stray bullet and died instantly.

The other gang members involved in the shooting have been arrested and convicted of the crime.
