SUV smashes into Old Louisville night spot

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A night out at an Old Louisville neighborhood tavern came to an abrupt end early Friday after an SUV smashed into it.

Around 12:30 a.m. the vehicle barreled through the entrance of the Magnolia Bar & Grill, clipping a bouncer. He's expected to be ok after being taken to the hospital for evaluation.

"He's resting at home," said Dan Fitzgerald, the owner of the bar. "He's pretty tough guy. I think he caught the mirror from the vehicle that smashed in."

There were no other significant injuries.

There were two women inside the vehicle. Police haven't released additional information regarding any arrests or what may have caused the crash.

"There was little bit of chaos, but we acted as quick as we could and we had excellent support from the local authorities," Fitzgerald said. "They [the women in the SUV] were shaken up. Obviously someone drove too fast and right into the bar."
