The University of Alabama System trustees have approved a 6 percent tuition hike for UAB students.
According to the Birmingham Business Journal (http://bit.ly/1bEUohK) UAB officials expect the increase to generate $9.6 million.
In-state students who take two, 12-hour semesters can expect to pay $7,206. Students in health-related degree programs can expect to pay $8,502 per year.
Across the state, University of Alabama system in-state students will pay a 3 percent increase.
