PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Maricopa Integrated Health System has a new president and CEO.

The MIHS Governing Board unanimously voted on Friday to name Steve Purves to head the health system.

Purves was previously the president and CEO of Munroe Regional Health System in Ocala, FL.

He'll take over for Betsy Bayless who began as MIHS' first president and CEO in 2005.

Bayless announced in September 2012 she should would be stepping down and then, in February, she got a $125,000 raise. The board's vote to give her a raise brought her salary to $500,000.

She later announced she'd be leaving and a national search began for her replacement.
