One man is dead after Tyler police said he was shot and killed inside a Tyler motel room.

Tyler police said they were called to the American Inn Motel in Tyler just before 7 a.m. Saturday.

The Tyler Police Department said this shooting is still under investigation. When officers arrived at the motel, they said they found a white male dead inside one of the rooms. They have not released his identity at this time, but they did say he was shot at least once.

A few guests at the motel said they did not hear a gunshot, but did see people coming in and out of that motel room the day before.

The motel does have several surveillance cameras and an employee said authorities are reviewing the footage.

Officers said no one else was in the room when they arrived on scene. Authorities have not released any information about a possible suspect, but they said they are still in the early stages of their investigation.
