The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Awards Scholarships to 2013 Graduates

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery recently awarded two $4000 Kiwanis scholarships to deserving 2013 graduates. These scholarships are awarded through the Central Alabama Community Foundation. Through its scholarship funds, the Central Alabama Community Foundation assists area students attain their academic goals by offsetting their post secondary educational expenses. The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Scholarships are available to high school graduates who are attending an accredited college or university. Although there is no minimum ACT or SAT score, students must indicate by their academic performance the ability or motivation to graduate from college. Preference is given to students demonstrating financial need. Consideration is also given to students' leadership, character, ability, and participation in extracurricular activities. The criterion for applying for the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery Scholarship is available on the Central Alabama Community Foundation's website- www.cacfinfo.org
 
This year's recipients each received a $4,000 scholarship, and both are renewable each year over four years, for a total of $16,000, based on grade criteria. 
 
The 2013 recipients are: 
Marley Sport, the daughter of Kim and John Sport. Marley is a 2013 graduate of Trinity High School and she plans to attend Auburn University beginning this fall. 
 
Kaitlin Evan, the daughter of Natasha Richardson. Kaitlin is a 2013 graduate of Jeff Davis High School and plans to attend The University of Alabama this fall.

The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery awards hundreds of thousands of dollars yearly to area children's related non-profit organization in addition to these scholarships. Funds are a direct result of the Alabama National Fair, the Pete Peterson Foundation and the Kiwanis Foundation. 
 
The Kiwanis Club of Montgomery is the third largest Kiwanis Club in the world, and the Alabama National Fair is the organization's annual fundraiser.
