PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM/WSFA) -

Two men have been pronounced dead Saturday, June 15, after a confrontation on Stephens Loop in Phenix City, AL.

Phenix City Police responded to a call about a shooting at around 4:21 a.m. On arrival, responding officers identified the victim as Phillip Demetrius McCoy, 31.

McCoy was transported by ambulance to the Columbus Regional Hospital, and pronounced dead upon arrival.

A second subject identified as Peter Thomas Sanders, 39, who was believed to have been shot during the same incident, was transported to Columbus Regional Hospital by a privately owned vehicle.

Sanders was pronounced dead at Columbus Regional.

The incident is believed to have started over an altercation between the two victims.

The case is currently under investigation by Criminal Investigations Division of the Phenix City Police Department.
