Mother killed in head-on crash identified

BOONE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) -

Police have identified a mother who was killed in a head-on crash on Sunday in Verona.

The incident happened around 6 p.m. in the 1500 block of US-42 near Southfork Church Road.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office says Robert Bischoff, 48, of Warsaw, was driving a 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck eastbound on US-42. Bischoff's vehicle collided head-on with a westbound Geo Tracker driven by Lana Rodgers, 24, of Warsaw, and occupied by her toddler son, Amos Rodgers, 3.

Lana Rodgers was pronounced dead at the scene. Bischoff was flown to University Hospital and Amos Rodgers was flown to Children's Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Preliminary investigations reveal that Rodgers' vehicle went left-of-center on a very slick roadway.

US-42 remained closed nearly six hours after the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
