PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The body of a man has been found in a Central Arizona Project canal, Phoenix police said.

Officers were investigating the discovery Sunday afternoon at 43rd Avenue and Peoria. A person walking by the canal saw the body floating in the water at about 1:30 p.m. and called police.

The body was turned over to the county medical examiner, according to Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Thompson said there were no obvious signs of trauma.

No other information was immediately available.
