FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5) -

Deputies in Coconino County are investigating what caused a SUV to cross the centerline and hit a Flagstaff school bus on Monday afternoon.

Coconino County Sheriff's Department spokesman Gerald Blair said the SUV was heading southbound on Leupp Road when it hit the driver's side of the Flagstaff Unified School District bus that was heading northbound.

The crash caused the rear axle of the bus to break free and strike the front driver's side wheel and axle of the SUV, causing it to separate from the frame.

The SUV driver had minor injuries.

The bus driver and the three children on board the bus headed for Leupp were not injured.

Anyone with information can call Coconino County Sheriff's Office at 928-744-4523.
