The project to construct a new entrance ramp to I-85 North that will help ease traffic congestion on Perry Hill Road continues to move forward, according to the Alabama Dept. of Transportation.

Weather permitting, the following lane closures are planned on I-85 at Exit 4:

  • I-85 North - Inside lane - Thursday, June 20, from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. Friday, June 21.

  • I-85 North - Outside lanes - Friday from 1 a.m. until 6 a.m.

  • I-85 South - Inside lane - Sunday, June 23, from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. Monday, June 24.

  • I-85 South - Outside lanes - Monday from 1 a.m. until 6 a.m.

Motorists are requested to consider using alternate routes, adjust arrival/departure times, observe work zone speed limits and other work zone signs, and use extreme caution in this area.

A work zone speed limit of 45 mph is in effect.

The $8.4 million interchange improvement project on I-85 at Perry Hill Road (Exit 4) will include bridge widening, additional lanes and new traffic signals. The project, which began in March, is estimated to be completed by November 2014.
