One of the heroes of the deadly shooting at Chardon High School is being featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Frank Hall is credited with chasing convicted gunman TJ Lane out of Chardon High during his deadly shooting rampage in February of 2012.

In the SI cover story, which asks readers if they remember Chardon, Hall opens up about the shooting. Hall says he regrets not being able to do more. He tells the magazine he was crippled by grief and remorse.

Prior to the SI cover story, Hall had only released a brief statement directed to the parents who lost their loved ones shortly after the shooting. Hall said they weren't alone and that he "prayed with them and wiped their tears."

Hall was an Assistant Football Coach at the high school at the time of the shooting, but has since taken the head football coaching position at nearby Lakeside High in Ashtabula.

17-year-old Russell King, Jr., 16-year-old Daniel Parmertor and 16-year-old Demetrius Hewlin were killed in the shooting. Lane has since been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Chardon Schools released the following statement about Hall's SI cover story:

We think the world of Coach Hall, who modeled such strength and determination for all of us in the aftermath of our horrific school shootings on Feb 27, 2012.

While the Sports Illustrated cover story serves as a tragic reminder of the three boys we needlessly lost that day, were pleased that it will provide a wider audience the opportunity read about this special man.

Chardon Schools are all the better for the time he spent here, and Ashtabula Lakeside scored big when he chose to return home.
