PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The co-founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps was arrested Wednesday on molestation charges, Phoenix police said.

Christopher Simcox, 52, was taken into custody in the area of 17000 N. 49th St.

Simcox was booked into jail after detectives with the police department's Family Investigations Bureau developed probable cause to arrest him. He is alleged to have had sexual contact with three young girls under the age of 10, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson.

Police didn't release specific information about the allegations.

Simcox faces two counts of molestation of a child, two counts of sexual conduct with a minor and one count of attempted molestation of a child.

People with any additional information about the incidents are asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department Family Investigations Bureau at 602-534-2121 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.

The Minutemen is an activist border group that brought thousands of anti-illegal immigration activists to patrol the U.S.-Mexico border.
