HEADLAND, AL (WSFA) -

Multiple law enforcement agencies were called to work a scene near Main Street in Headland.

Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox says law enforcement was sent to the scene on a call about a man walking down Main street carrying an assault riffle. When they arrived there, the man started shooting at them.

Sheriff Maddox says no one was injured as a result of this incident - the suspect is in custody and appears to be mentally handicapped. However, authorities believed there could have been a second suspect.

Law enforcement agents from Henry County as well as Houston County were called to help search the scene as a precautionary measure.

A SWAT team was also called in to assist in the search. The scene was eventually cleared - no additional suspect was found.

Police aren't ready to release the identity of the suspect in custody but say he will be charged with attempted murder, menacing and obstructing a government operation.
