PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The Jodi Arias murder trial played out on national television and on social media sites for months.

A movie portraying the events leading up to the murder of Travis Alexander is about to air on prime time and the actress playing Arias talked about the role.

"It was a very difficult nut to crack, but absolutely, my job is to try to immerse myself into the character as much as I could. It was difficult because I know the gravity of what she did and I would watch Travis' family in the courtroom mourning the loss of their child. As the same time, I was sympathetic to the character I was playing. I tried to play her as objectively as I could," actress Tania Raymonde said.

The movie, called Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secrets, airs Saturday night on the Lifetime Network.

It was just last month that a jury convicted Arias of first-degree murder in her ex-boyfriend's 2008 death at his Mesa home. The jury could not reach a unanimous decision on whether to sentence Arias to life or death so the judge declared a mistrial. The retrial is expected to begin next month.
