RoeblingFest celebrates Tri-state history

COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

A day-long celebration honors the John A. Roebling Bridge, its history, and the people it connects.

RoeblingFest 2013 took place Saturday afternoon along the banks of the Ohio River. The festival was held a block from the National Historic Landmark in Covington, Ky.

History is the focus of the event, with guided tours of the bridge, Riverside Drive architecture and statues, the Covington floodwall murals and the Daniel Carter Beard House. History fans can browse displays of historic photographs and artifacts by the Covington-Cincinnati Suspension Bridge Committee, The Kenton County Public Library, the Behringer-Crawford Museum and others.

An aerial photo was taken at the event as people joined hands from Covington to Cincinnati across the west side pedestrian walkway of the bridge.

RoeblingFest also features a full day of live music headlined by 500 Miles to Memphis, a band with roots in the Cincinnati area.

The event benefits the non-profit Covington Suspension Bridge Committee, The Roebling Point Business Association and Renaissance Covington.
