1 dead, 2 injured in Gallatin Co. crash

SPARTA, KY (FOX19) -

An Ohio man was killed and two others were injured following an early morning crash on I-71 in Gallatin County.

Troopers responded to the crash after Gallatin County Dispatch received an emergency call around 3:30 a.m.

Preliminary investigation shows that the vehicle, driven by 19 year old Timothy Hafenbreidel of Bismarck, ND, was traveling northbound at the 54 mile marker when the vehicle struck a guardrail on the right shoulder of the road.

Authorities say Hafenbreidel overcorrected and the vehicle went into the median where it overturned several times.

Hafenbreidel received life threatening injuries and was flown by Air Methods, Inc. to the University of Cincinnati Hospital.

A passenger, 31 year old Ricky Lugo of Fontoria, OH, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Gallatin County Coroner.

Another passenger, 23 year old Kevin Clark of Pensacola, FL was flown by PHI, Inc. to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for life threatening injuries.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
