MURFREESBORO, TN (WSMV) -

Murfreesboro City Schools will soon have a new elementary school to help alleviate overcrowding in the area.

The two-story school will be located in the western part of Murfreesboro, east of Veterans Parkway and south of Franklin Road near the Blackman community.

It will be able to serve 1,000 students and relieve overcrowding at Scales Elementary and Cason Lane Academy.

The new addition will also help Rutherford County Schools with the overcrowding of Blackman Elementary.

Murfreesboro City School's 13th elementary school is set to open by the 2014-15 school year but does not yet have a name.

Name suggestions can be submitted to the school naming committee through the Ask MCS tab on the MCS website, http://www.cityschools.net/.

Tuesday's groundbreaking is set for 4 p.m.
