THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

A Thomasville mother is enjoying her last few days with hair before she shaves it off for a good cause.

Karen Singletary is participating in the 46 Mommas: Shave for the Brave event.

Each mother has a child who has or had cancer.

The women will shave their heads to raise money and awareness for cancer research.

Singletary's 11-year old son Zach was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma back in 2006.

"When you have kids your one thing is for them to be able grow up and be healthy and be able to accomplish whatever they want to accomplish. When you are told that your child has cancer, it is absolutely the most devastating thing that you can probably ever hear," said Singletary.

The event kicks off Sunday in San Antonio, Texas.
